The Bow Tie, The Chair, and the Stories That Change Everything

Uncovering the real human stories and insecurities hidden behind curated, polished lives.

A Solo Episode

We live in a world where everything feels curated and filtered, yet behind every perfect smile is a real, complicated story. As a cosmetic dentist in Newport Beach, I spend my days helping people transform their appearance, but I’ve learned that confidence goes much deeper than the surface.

My role gives me a unique vantage point. Much like a hairstylist, I find that the dentist's chair becomes a place where people feel safe to divulge their secrets and share their true journeys. In this inaugural episode, I want to invite you into those conversations.

You will learn why aesthetic changes are often just the first step in a much longer journey toward self-assurance. We will explore how personal presentation influences how you show up for your family, your team, and your business.

I also share the personal story behind my "Dr. Bow Tie" brand and the specific advice from my grandfather that changed how I view professional excellence. It turns out that looking your best isn't about vanity—it’s about giving your best to the people you serve.

We are going to dive into the struggles and insecurities that even the most successful celebrities and business leaders face. My goal is to move past the celebrity lens and see the human being underneath.

I hope you’ll join me on this quest to understand what it actually takes to be confident in who we are. Listen in as we begin this journey together.

We live in a generation where everything is curated and polished, where success and celebrity are often presented through a perfect filtered lens. But behind every perfect smile is a real story, and that's what I care about. Hello and welcome to The Confidence Question. My name is Dr. Tyler Hales, and I am a celebrity cosmetic dentist located in Newport Beach. I am real excited for this first episode that we are airing.

I've been wanting to do this for a long time. The more I think about really my role as a cosmetic dentist is I don't actually do general dentistry anymore. I only do cosmetics. I treat celebrities and I treat some of the top businessmen and women in the world. And what I've learned is that everyone has confidence issues. But how do we overcome those things? And what is it that's going to take us to the next level to bring confidence within ourselves? This is what I'm excited about. On this podcast, we're going to share stories with these celebrities. We're going to have juicy stories and we're going to be able to really hear of their experience in their lives of how they've grown. So what type of guests are we going to have on The Confidence Question? Now, I really wanted to make this podcast something that was entertaining and exciting for people, right? Yes, we're going to talk about confidence. Yes, we're going to learn and grow together. And I want you to hear these stories from celebrities celebrities, uh, that you have never heard before. I find myself in a unique situation. Now, when you think of the dentist, it's kind of like a hairstylist as well, right? People always want to divulge all their secrets and everything that's going on in their lives, and that's where I've been able to hear of these stories and these experiences straight from them.

My goal with this podcast is that you get to see our guests as humans, right? Not just celebrities or people of influence, They've all had their own journeys, and we're going to share their stories and their secrets about what it took for them to get here.

So as a cosmetic dentist, I only do veneers. And what that means is that people come and see me because they feel self-conscious about their smile, and I'm able to give them confidence through a smile transformation. You know, I feel blessed that I get to be on this quest of confidence for each of my patients, but Confidence is a never-ending quest, and that is the journey we are on to understand what confidence is. So people always ask me, why the bow tie? So when you go and look me up on Instagram, you'll also realize that they call me Dr. Bow Tie. It honestly wasn't something that, uh, I was going to brand, but hey, the bow tie chose me.

Now it really comes down to my love for aesthetics. I mean, that's why I have my business, Hale's Aesthetic. And it's not just about the way the teeth look. It's about how we present each and every day. When I first finished dental school, I met with my grandpa. He was a major aspect to my life, an awesome businessman, but also everyone just respected him and someone that I look up to so much in my life. So my grandpa told me, if you want to be the best, you have to look your best. And so when I started thinking about, well, how do I make that my own?, right? Do I wear a suit? Do I have to dress and wear a tuxedo? I really wanted to look my best, but also where I felt confident in what I'm wearing. And now when you look at the aesthetics of, of my everyday dress, right? I love my Nikes. You go to my office and I have a shoe closet, okay? Full of shoes that I love. I wanted to wear the bow tie so that people saw me differently and really understood that I was showing up looking my best and that they were going to get my best every day. So for me, Aesthetic is the way that you look, and when you are able to dress and feel confident in that look, you really show up differently for your team, for your family, and for your business.

And hey, I get it. I'm a cosmetic dentist. My job is literally to make your teeth look perfect. But behind every perfect smile is a real story, and that's what I care about. But this podcast is about going beyond that surface. We're here to uncover the real human stories behind it all. The journeys, the struggles, the insecurities, and the moments no one talks about. Because the truth is, it's rarely as perfect as it looks, and that's where the most powerful stories live.
